Leading the 350 union craftsman we have working on projects throughout New England are the following individuals, who set the tone for how ECI engages with customers and executes our mission:
Jay Smith
President, Co-founder
Jay co founded East Coast Interiors in 2003, along with John Adams. As a co-owner, Jay currently serves as President of ECI and currently oversees general operations of the business and daily management of the finish division. The success of the business is born from Jay’s wealth of experience and knowledge across all positions in the industry. Prior to his role as President of ECI, Jay served every type of role in the finish carpentry business as a field carpenter, project foreman, general superintendent, estimator, and project manager.
Shaughn Shields
Director of Operations
As Director of Operations at East Coast Interiors, Shaughn Shields leads with a focus on precision, performance, and people. He oversees a team of more than 200 union carpenters, estimators, and project managers, ensuring every phase of construction—from pre-planning to completion—meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and efficiency. Prior to joining ECI, Shaughn spent eight years with Suffolk Construction, where he contributed to the development of high-profile projects including Encore Boston Harbor, Winthrop Center Tower, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. A former Infantry Captain in the U.S. Army National Guard, Shaughn last commanded a Company of Soldiers while managing multimillion-dollar training and logistical operations. He holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and a BSBA from Suffolk University.
Bruce Adams
VP, Operations
Bruce began his career with East Coast Interiors in 2009 after leaving his role as Northeast Regional Manager with Home Depot. He currently serves as a co-owner and Vice President of Operations and is involved in business development and sales, human resources, finance and accounting, and general operations of the business. He works closely with the rest of the executive team to develop and refine ECI’s strategy and implement all major company decisions. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Finance from Babson College.
Eric Lyman
VP, Framing Division
Eric Lyman brings over a decade of hands-on experience and technical expertise to his role leading East Coast Interiors’ Framing and Siding Division. A graduate of the New England Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Eric began his career in 2013 and quickly earned recognition for his ability to deliver complex projects with precision and teamwork. He has successfully guided many of ECI’s most notable framing projects, including East Pier 5 & 6, Union Square Tower, and the Whittier Place Development. Known for his pragmatic leadership style and deep field knowledge, Eric works closely with clients, designers, and field teams to ensure every project is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Ken Condon
VP, Doors & Hardware Division
Ken started his career with East Coast Interiors in 2012 after serving as a lead estimator and project manager for Shepardville Construction. Ken serves as Vice President of the Door and Hardware Division. He is responsible for all project estimates, project management, coordination, and logistics of the division. Ken’s knowledge of product applications, engineering processes, and project management experience have helped ECI create an exceptional “turn-key” experience for our clients who engage our Door and Hardware Division.
